Dr & Prof LiangJian Zou, the director of the Research Laboratory of Computational Materials Sciences, Institute of Solid State Physics, CAS. He received his PhD degree from Institute of Solid State Physics, CAS in 1998. Before joining Institute of Solid State Physics as a “Hundred Talents Program” researcher of Chinese Academy of Sciences, he conducted postdoctoral researches at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy.
High-Tc cuprate and ironpnictide superconductors, heavy fermion systems and other transition-metal oxides are typically strongly correlated systems, they demonstrate rich and complex quantum phases. To illustrate the essential properties of these systems, we perform the research on the orbital physics, quantum magnetism and quantum phase transitions, novel mechanism of high-Tc superconductors, etc.
