Eugene Gregoryanz is a condensed matter experimental physicist, with a particular interest in the properties of simple systems (mostly elements) at extreme conditions, namely high static pressures and high/low temperatures. After obtaining his PhD, he was recruited by the high pressure (HP) group of the Geophysical Laboratory (GL), USA. In 2002, he joined the Laboratoire de Mineralogie-Crystallographie de Paris (LMCP), U. Paris-V.His achievements have been recognised in his appointment to a full academic position at Reader level by the U. of Edinburgh at the School of Physics and Astronomy. In 2011 he was awarded a EPSRC Leadership Fellowship to synthesize and study novel states of matter at extreme conditions. In 2012, he was promoted to a Personal Chair (professorship) of Extreme Conditions Physics. He has published many papers, including ones in Nature, Science, Nature Physics/ Materials, PRL and PNAS.
