Laboratory of Nanomaterials and Nanostructures (NanoLab) is a research laboratory in Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and is part of the Center for Envoronmental and Energy Nanomaterials of ISSPCAS, and the Key Laboratory of Materials Physics CAS. NanoLab specialises in the development of novel nanomaterials and nanostructures for environment and energy applications. The main emphasis of our research is to elucidate the growth mechanism of advanced nanomaterials and formation process of novel nanostructures with an objective to improve the environment and energy performances.
1) Advanced nanomaterials and Nanostructures. Generic template-based synthetic methods for building large-scale arrays of uniformly distributed nanostructures and multiscale nano-micro-macro-structures; flexible transparent conductive films; laser-materials interactions in liquids and gases; carbon-based nanomaterials from biomass; novel synthesis strategies for nanoclusters; 2) Structural-properties Correlation. Optical, dielectric, photonic, electronic, and thermal properties of nanomaterials and nanostructures. 3) Functional Devices. Nanoionics-based memory devices, optoelectronic devices, solar cells, thermochromics, thermoelectrics, supercapacitors. 4) Environment Detection and Monitoring. SERS detection, gas sensors, in-situ monitoring of persistent toxic pollutants.
Nanolab currently has 57 staff (11 professors, 13 associate professors, 24 research assistants, 9 technicians), 10 postdoctoral researchers, and 62 graduate students. In the past 5 years, the scientists in the Nanolab have published more than 300 research papers, contributed more than 20 books and book chapters, won several national and provincial rewards for scientific achievements, and applied more than 150 patents.
